UPLOADPROOF

Frequently asked questions

Customer file uploads for Shopify, tracked and proven on every order. Still have a question? Email support@uploadproof.app.

What does UploadProof do?

UploadProof lets your customers attach a file, a photo, a design, or a PDF, right on the product page when they buy a custom product. Every file is tied to the order and gets a permanent proof timeline: received, attached to the order, and downloaded by you. It's built so you never lose a customer's file or wonder whether it came through.

How do customer file uploads work?

On a product you've enabled, shoppers see an upload box where they add their photo or design before adding to cart. The file travels with the order, so when it lands in your Shopify admin the customer's file is right there, along with a timeline showing exactly when it arrived and when you downloaded it.

How do I add the upload box to my store?

In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Themes, then Customize. Open a product page from the top dropdown, click Add block in the product area, and choose the UploadProof "File Upload" block. Save, and the upload box appears on that product. It installs as a theme app block, so there's no code editing.

Can customers check out without uploading their file?

Only if you allow it. You can make the upload required, and UploadProof will politely hold checkout, including fast paths like Buy it now and express wallet buttons, until the file is attached. That's the whole point: no more orders arriving with no artwork and an awkward email chase.

What file types and sizes can customers upload?

Out of the box UploadProof accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, and PDF, which covers the vast majority of custom-product artwork and photos. Files are stored at full quality so you download exactly what the customer sent, byte for byte.

Does it work with my theme?

Yes. UploadProof works with any current Shopify theme (Online Store 2.0). It installs as a theme app block, so it never edits your theme's code: you add the block from the theme editor, and removing it leaves nothing behind.

Will it slow down my store or touch my checkout?

No. The upload box loads only on the product pages where you add it, and UploadProof never changes your prices or your checkout. It sits beside your buy button and stays out of the payment flow, so it can't cause the checkout problems that some product-options apps do.

How much does it cost?

Flat pricing, with no percentage of your sales and no per-megabyte charges. Free covers 25 customer uploads per month. Growth is $9/month for 500 uploads. Unlimited is $19/month for unlimited uploads. Every plan includes the delivery-proof log and 90-day secure storage. Prices are in USD.

What happens if I reach my plan's upload limit?

Your existing files and orders are never affected. If you're regularly near your monthly upload count, that's a sign to move up a plan; upgrading takes effect immediately and pricing stays flat, so there are no surprise per-upload overage fees.

Where are my customers' files stored, and for how long?

Files are stored securely and kept for 90 days, which gives you a comfortable window to download and produce every order. You can download the originals anytime during that window, exactly as the customer sent them.

Is customer data handled safely?

Yes. UploadProof follows Shopify's data-protection requirements, including the standard privacy webhooks: if a shopper's data is redacted, their uploaded files are deleted too. See our privacy policy for details.

What happens when I uninstall?

Uninstalling is clean. Because UploadProof adds the upload box through Shopify's theme app extension system, removing the app removes its block without leaving leftover code in your theme.

Do you offer support?

Yes. Email support@uploadproof.app and a real person (the founder) will help you, usually within a few hours.
